BOYSEN Cool Shades Heat Reflective Colored Roof Coating

BOYSEN®® Cool Shades™ Heat Reflective Colored Roof Coating

BOYSEN®® Cool Shades™ is a water-based, low-VOC paint designed with highly engineered infrared-reflecting (IR) pigments making it possible to create elegant shades of roof coating while reducing heat build-up on painted surfaces. Its 100% acrylic binder provides excellent dirt pick-up resistance and preserves heat-reflective properties over time.

FEATURES

Compared to conventional roof coatings, a paint film containing IR pigments like BOYSEN®® Cool Shades™ will stay cooler because it repels infrared light before it can turn into heat.
Because the ability of the IR pigments to reflect infrared light is affected by how long the paint film stays clean, BOYSEN®® Cool Shades™ is also formulated to be dirt pick-up resistant with its all-acrylic technology, which also makes the paint film extremely durable.

SERVICE CONDITIONS

Ideally used with BOYSEN®® Primeguard™ White
B‑4301 as primer for new galvanized iron sheets, aluminum, or stainless steel.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Wipe the surface with a rag soaked in paint thinner to remove grease, oil, wax and other foreign matter. For new galvanized surfaces, etch the surface by applying 10% BOYSEN®® Metal Etching Solution B‑71 (Dilute 1 part of B‑71 to 9 parts water). Rinse with water and dry immediately.
Unpainted galvanized surfaces that have been exposed for 6 months or more need not be etched.
For recoating pre-painted galvanized surfaces in good condition, sand lightly then wipe the surface with a clean rag before applying paint. Remove all loose paint film to sound surface. Spot prime bare substrate.
For corroded galvanized surfaces, remove rust by wire brushing and use BOYSEN®® Metal Etching Solution B‑71. Let it stay for 10-15 minutes. Be sure to remove all remaining residue. Immediately prime after drying.
For unglazed roof tiles, clean surfaces to be painted to remove dirt, dust, grease, oil, and other contaminants.
