SURFACE PREPARATION

New Concrete

Allow new concrete to dry for 14-28 days under normal weather conditions before painting. Surface to be painted should be clean and dry, free from oil, grease, dust, dirt, contaminants, and all loose grit and mortar. If neutralizing, treat surface with a solution of 1 part BOYSEN®® Masonry Neutralizer B‑44 diluted in 16 parts water, applying liberally by brush or roller. Let dry overnight before rinsing with water to remove white crystals that form on the surface. Let dry before painting. However, if the concrete has been cured for more than 28 days, there is no need for neutralizer.

Wooden Surfaces

Surface to be painted should be clean and dry, free from dust, dirt, and other foreign matter. Hammer all nails deep enough to apply putty. Sand rough wood until smooth and then dust off before painting.

Drywall Substrates

Install and secure joints as per manufacturer's recommendations.

Repainting

Scrape off all loose, scaling, flaking, and peeling paint manually or by using BOYSEN®® Paint and Varnish Remover B‑141, as necessary. Wash surfaces clean and completely remove chemical residue. Let it dry.
For repainting concrete, use BOYSEN®® Chalk Blocker™ B‑7304 as surface conditioner if surface is chalky. In case of mildew infestation, treat with a bleach solution (1:3, laundry bleach to water, respectively) by swabbing or brushing. To ensure proper treatment, let stand for 24 hours before cleaning off residue. Let dry.
For repainting other surfaces such as wood, apply the appropriate primer before recoating.

PAINTING SCHEDULE

Properly prime surface to be painted with BOYSEN®® Permacoat™ Flat B‑701 or BOYSEN®® EcoPrimer™ B‑105. To obtain a perfect finish, it is necessary to apply BOYSEN®® DECORe™ Perlescente™ over its matching Undercoat. For example, if you choose the Pisa (green) color, the DECORe™ Perlescente™ B‑4858 Pisa Base must be applied on its B‑48055 Pisa Undercoat. If you choose Lucca (blue), DECORe™ Perlescente™ B‑4840 Lucca Base is applied after the B‑48054 Lucca Undercoat.

STEP 1: DECORe™ Perlescente™ Undercoat

Select the desired color of DECORe™ Perlescente™ from the color card.

Apply 1-2 coats of matching DECORe™ Undercoat using brush or roller or airless spray.

STEP 2: Shades of DECORe™ Perlescente™ Base

How to obtain the right shade:

For best results, mix about 200 grams of the matching Perla Di Luce toner into the DECORe™ Perlescente™ Base. Gradually add the powder in the base while mixing. This is to ensure that the powder is fully wet. Afterwards, use a power mixer to ensure full luster of metallic powder.

STEP 3: How to apply the DECORe™ Perlescente™

Apply the mixture over the DECORe™ Undercoat using cross-hatch strokes. Blend in with the provided BOYSEN®® DECORe™ Brush. After 5-10 minutes, smooth over the surface using the BOYSEN®® DECORe™ Scraper.
