BOYSEN®® Epoxy Primer
BOYSEN®® Epoxy Primer is a high quality, two-component, epoxy-polyamide system that has exceptional adhesion to practically any surface including steel tanks, coastal installations, galvanized iron, pipelines, aluminum, structural steel, etc. It has excellent corrosion resistance and sealing properties. It is also highly alkali-resistant so there is no need to neutralize new concrete.
B‑2202 serves as a Curing Agent designed to be compounded with Epoxy Primer.

SURFACE PREPARATION
Concrete Flooring
Allow new concrete to dry for 14-28 days under normal weather conditions before painting. Remove oil and grease by using detergents or degreasers. Painting over a roughened concrete floor is recommended to improve adhesion of succeeding coats.
Metal Surfaces
Wipe the surface with a rag soaked in paint thinner to remove grease, oil, wax and other foreign matter. For new galvanized surfaces, etch the surface by applying 10% BOYSEN®® Metal Etching Solution B‑71 (Dilute 1 part of B‑71 to 9 parts water). Rinse with water and dry immediately.
Unpainted galvanized surfaces that have been exposed for 6 months or more need not be etched.
Treat rusted steel by sanding and wire brushing. Use BOYSEN®® Metal Etching Solution B‑71 on remaining rust. Let it stay for 10-15 minutes. Be sure to remove all remaining residue. Immediately prime after drying.
Wooden Surfaces
Surfaces to be painted should be clean and dry, free from dust, dirt, and other foreign matter. Hammer all nails deep enough to apply putty. Sand rough wood until smooth and then dust off before painting.
For repainting, scrape off all loose, scaling, flaking, and peeling paint as necessary. Make sure surface is clean, dry, and good weather persists prior to painting. Prime with BOYSEN®® Flatwall Enamel B‑800 before recoating.
PAINTING SCHEDULE
Concrete Flooring
Mix 3 parts of BOYSEN®® Epoxy Primer White B‑2200 to 1 part of its catalyst.
Allow 20 minutes induction time. Thin 1:1 with Epoxy Reducer B‑55. Apply as primer coating on bare concrete floors. Let dry overnight.
NOTE: Foot traffic abrasion resistance fully develops after 3 days of curing. The paint will reach full hardness after 7 days of drying.

Metal
Prime bare metal with BOYSEN®® Epoxy Primer Red Oxide B‑2277 or BOYSEN®® Epoxy Primer Gray B‑2230. Let dry 8 hours to overnight.
Water Tank (Interior)
Prime bare substrate with BOYSEN®® Epoxy Primer White B‑2200. Let dry 8 hours to overnight. Topcoat with 2 to 3 coats of BOYSEN®® Epoxy Enamel White B‑2100. Let dry overnight before recoating. Curing is strictly 7 days prior to use of tank.
Application of topcoat should be done within 7 days after priming to ensure good intercoat adhesion, otherwise re-application of primer is needed.

Wooden Surfaces
Prime wooden substrate with BOYSEN®® Epoxy Primer White B‑2200 or BOYSEN®® Epoxy Primer Gray B‑2230. Let dry 8 hours to overnight.
